The Forever Open
The $100,000 World of Warcraft: Forever Open Beta 1v1 PvP Tournament
Hosted by Tips Out, EsfandTV, and Xaryu—with a massive $50,000 matching donation from TimTheTatman—The Forever Open is the premier competitive esports spectacle of the WoW Forever closed beta. Over 4,000 Level 30 Horde gladiators battle through grueling single-elimination qualifiers into the broadcasted championship bracket.
$100,000 USD Prize Pool Structure
Backed by Tips Out, EsfandTV, Xaryu, and TimTheTatman
Grand Champion Warlockguy Foreverpvp took home $50,000 USD in direct cash prizing, permanent placement in the ForeverWiki Hall of Champions, and the official title: "Death's Duelist", defeating Neepzen 3-1 in Sunday's live 36-player double-elimination bracket.
To ensure every class has immense competitive stakes, the remaining $50,000 is divided equally among the highest-placing competitor of each class (Warrior, Rogue, Priest, Mage, Warlock, Hunter, Druid, Shaman, Paladin).
If the overall Grand Champion is also the #1 player of their class, their class prize cascades down to the 2nd-place competitor of that class.

Official Dueling Regulations & Setup
Strictly enforced by tournament administrators and referees
Rogue and Druid stealth classes are guaranteed an uncontested opener. Opponents must stand completely still without spinning, spamming AoE, or dropping Hunter traps until the stealth player strikes.
Class self-buffs (Intellect, Fortitude, Mark of the Wild) and pre-casting Power Word: Shield before a duel begins are explicitly legal. However, pre-applying HoTs (Renew, Rejuvenation) is strictly forbidden.
All character transmogrifications must be toggled OFF prior to stepping into the duel circle to permit opponents and broadcast referees to visually inspect armor sets and weapons.
All registered competitors must create their Level 30 character on the official Beta PvP realm with the mandatory surname Foreverpvp. Characters lacking this surname are immediately disqualified.
Intentional line-of-sight terrain glitching, out-of-bounds duel ring resets, third-party macro bots, or match-fixing triggers immediate expulsion and forfeiture of all prizes.
Every qualifying gladiator must pay a 15 gold in-game administrative fee upon check-in to ensure active participation and filter out ghost registrations.
Strict Banned Items & Consumables Matrix
Items barred to preserve skill expression and eliminate RNG cheese mechanics
Reason for Ban: The 30-second sleep proc triggers on incoming melee hits, creating non-interactive RNG crowd control that completely invalidates melee class balance.
Reason for Ban: Over-tuned utility procs and attack speed in the level 30 bracket skew ranged physical DPS and provide excessive disengage advantages.
Reason for Ban: The 10-second Beast Fear utility completely removes counterplay against Hunter pets and shapeshifted Feral Druids with zero cooldown cost.
Reason for Ban: Massive instant burst damage (~450–750 Fire) can one-shot or suicidal trade level 30 characters who possess average health pools around 1,100 HP.
Reason for Ban: Items like Spider Swarm and the Compact Harvest Reaper Kit spawn pushback-inducing pets from inventory without taking up an equipment slot. (Equippable items like SM Dog Whistle are permitted).
Reason for Ban: Barred to prevent any unintended stat stacking or resting buff exploitation during pre-match preparations.
Level 30 Tournament Meta & Class Power Rankings
Theorycrafted for the 21-talent-point cap on the WoW Forever Beta
Guaranteed stealth opener rule gives Rogues lethal opening control. Vanish, Improved Gouge, and Cold Blood burst can take 70% of an opponent's health in a single stunlock.
Legal pre-shield PW:Shield absorbs ~300+ damage. Mind Flay slow, Silence, and Shadow Word: Pain dot attrition pressure make them formidable in 1v1 duels.
Cone of Cold, Frost Nova, and Shatter crits provide untethered kiting control against melee while Polymorph enables complete combat resets.
Healthstone + Soul Link / Voidwalker sacrifice shield provide heavy effective health. Fear chaining and Curse of Exhaustion make closing the distance painful.
Major beneficiary of Beta 1.60.1 rage normalization. With high burst weapons like Ironforge Greathammer or Deepblaze, crits immediately turn duels into routs.
Grounding Totem absorbs spell openers, Earthbind Totem counters kiting, and Windfury / Flame Shock procs deliver explosive burst windows.
The ban on Flash Bombs keeps pets relevant, but the minimum 8-yard deadzone and stealth opener guarantees require surgical kiting precision.
Bear Form armor and Feral Charge provide high defensive durability, but mana starvation in shapeshifting rotations can limit multi-minute duel sustain.
Under strict Horde-only beta tournament rules, Paladins are not playable on Horde characters, meaning the Paladin class prize split applies solely to qualifying Alliance showmatches.
