Blizzard Entertainment has deployed Patch 1.15.5 across WoW Classic servers, ushering in a historic modernization pass for Classic Era, Hardcore, and Anniversary realms. Backed by verified developer announcements from Community Manager Kaivax, this update addresses decade-old engine bottlenecks while fiercely protecting the organic social economy.

The End of Buff and Debuff Caps

For twenty years, Classic raiders lived under the tyranny of the 16-debuff limit on bosses and the 32-buff limit on player characters. Sub-optimal classes like Affliction Warlocks, Shadow Priests, and Feral Druids were routinely forbidden from casting damage-over-time spells to preserve debuff slots for Sunder Armor, Faerie Fire, and Curse of Elements.

Under Patch 1.15.5, both limits have been permanently lifted. Raids can freely utilize all class debuffs and stack complete sets of elixirs, consumables, and world buffs without the danger of vital buffs getting pushed off player status bars.

Key Patch 1.15.5 Engine Modernizations

  • ▸Buff & Debuff Removal: The 32-buff and 16-debuff caps are completely gone on Era, Hardcore, and Anniversary servers.
  • ▸Instant Same-Account Mail: In-game mail between characters on the same Battle.net account arrives immediately with zero delay.
  • ▸Strict GDKP Ban: Gold Dragon Kill Points (GDKP) raid runs and advertising are strictly prohibited across NA and EU realms.
  • ▸Manual LFG Browser: An integrated, modern group-listing interface lets players browse and join 5-man dungeon groups.
  • ▸Dedicated Services Chat: /services channel added for summons, portals, and buffs, cleaning up Trade and General channels.
  • ▸Dual Specialization at 40: Dual talent specs enabled for purchase once characters hit level 40.

Strict GDKP Prohibition & Economy Protections

To preserve traditional guild progression and eliminate the primary driver of illicit gold buying and botting networks, Blizzard has enacted a strict zero-tolerance ban on GDKP loot systems across fresh Classic realms. Raids must utilize DKP, loot council, round-robin, or standard Need/Greed rolling.
