Blizzard has deployed a massive balance update to the WoW Forever closed beta. Shaman's Lava Burst drops to 21 points, Priest's Devouring Plague CD is slashed to 24s, 8 raid-wide buffs are unlocked, and weapon specialization racials are replaced across Humans, Orcs, Dwarves, and Tauren.

In the final development sprint leading into November 4, Blizzard has issued one of the most substantial balance and talent patches of the closed beta test (Build 70425), restructuring key talent trees and overhauling classic racial weapon proficiencies.

Shaman & Priest Talent Architecture Shifts

The October balance patch directly addressed community feedback regarding early-game specialization milestones, unlocking iconic abilities for testing in the Level 30 beta bracket:

Major Class & Talent Rebalances

Shaman: Lava Burst (Row 5)

Moved up to the 5th tier of the Elemental tree as a 21-point milestone, making Lava Burst obtainable at level 30. Elemental Mastery restored as the 31-point capstone. Chain Lightning mana cost lowered significantly.

Shaman: Water Shield Proc

Water Shield now triggers charges from all critical strikes rather than solely healing spells, dramatically smoothing Restoration and hybrid mana recovery.

Priest: Devouring Plague

Cooldown drastically cut from 60 seconds down to 24 seconds to match its damage-over-time duration. The spell can now properly critically strike.

Priest: Vampiric Embrace & Utilities

Vampiric Embrace cooldown halved to 30 seconds. New 'Dark Inspiration' utility talent added to the Shadow tree; Shadow Word: Death cooldown adjusted to 18 seconds.

Hunter: Dismember Pet Ability

Re-tuned to apply a 25% healing reduction for 6 seconds on a 15-second cooldown (reining in previous 50% uptime loops in PvP duels).

Paladin: Holy Power & Vengeance

Holy Power grants +15% critical strike chance to Holy Strike. Retribution's Vengeance now triggers strictly from non-periodic critical hits and caps at 3 stacks.

Sweeping Racial Proficiencies Overhaul

To eliminate mandatory weapon locks and open up diverse endgame itemization, classic weapon specialization racials have been converted into universal combat modifiers:

Reformed Racial Passives

  • ▸Human (Ruthless): Sword Specialization replaced with 'Ruthless', granting +2% critical strike chance on all physical attacks and offensive spells.
  • ▸Orc (Savage): Axe Specialization replaced with 'Savage', awarding +1% critical strike chance across all damage types.
  • ▸Dwarf (Earth Fury): Mace Specialization replaced with 'Earth Fury', giving +2% increased critical damage and healing output. Find Treasure now provides a chance at bonus loot in chests.
  • ▸Tauren (Endurance & Plainsrunning): Endurance updated to grant +2% critical damage/healing. Plainsrunning grants +3% mounted speed while actively moving, with reduced War Stomp cooldowns.

8 Group Buffs Converted to Full Raid Auras

In a landmark change designed to alleviate rigid 5-man group composition requirements in 20-man and 40-man content, Blizzard confirmed that Battle Shout, Trueshot Aura, Leader of the Pack, Moonkin Aura, Grace of Air Totem, Strength of Earth Totem, Windfury Totem, and Flametongue Totem now radiate across the entire raid.
